Whats in the box shop?
At CrossFit Evolving boxes we stock a small range of items that assist our members in their training and enjoyment of being a part of our community. For your convenience these are sold via a vending machine which is able to take cash, card and all types of contactless payment device such as apple pay.
When the pull up grips suddenly started flying out the vending machine during the CrossFit Open it occurred to us that many of you may not know what we stock in the box or why.
In line with the principles of CrossFit Evolving; all products are vegan friendly and are chosen based on their ability to improve your ability to achieve your fitness goals. Where we are not able to offer a competitive price compared with online or local shops we will not stock an item. We are unable to compete on price with the major supermarket chains based locally and therefore feel no need to stock items which are readily and conveniently available there.
We do stock:
- BCAA drinks – Nocco and Fit Aid. These drinks are designed as a great option if training in the morning without breakfast and as a recovery drink post workout. Some have caffeine including FitAid which has a small amount of caffeine from green tea. Some Nocco flavours are caffeine free so are recommended when athletes are training in the evening or have a low caffeine tolerance. We charge at or below the RRP for these drinks.
- Protein snacks – We have tried and tested a range of plant based protein bars and have settled on NEAT Bars and Vive Bars as they offer the best combination of flavour, texture and macros. Again these are sold at the lower end of the RRP range suggested by the suppliers and to our knowledge are not available readily as single bars at a lower price.
- Protein powder – We have stocked a small amount of protein powder pouches from Vive. We chose this brand based on pH nutrition’s expert recommendation and as the flavour and macros are very favourable compared with others on the market. We are looking at single portion sachets but will only stock these once our suppliers are offering compostable packaging.
- Box t-shirts/Hoodies – These are held in stock in limited sizes for drop in visitors and members looking to pick up a t-shirt. They are costed at £20 based on the quality of t-shirt and printing used and are based on designs created by our own members back in 2017. Occasionally we are able to offer members discounted t-shirts/Hoodies etc via pre order and in these instances they will not be stocked in the vending machine
- Nothing fishy omega 3 – the only supplement readily endorsed by CrossFit is omega 3. As a plant based facility we stock the algae based capsules as this is where fish obtain their omega 3. Consider it cutting out the middleman.
- Jaw Grips – Our jaw grips are sold at the lowest available price even compared with online stockists. There is an online size guide to inform you which option you should purchase and they can be adjusted to create different size finger holes without damaging the grip integrity. Jaw grips are intended to protect hands on heavy gymnastic or bar cycling days. We don’t recommend using them for all elements of every session as your grip strength in daily tasks won’t adjust if you do. However as a protection option they are reusable and effective. - K-tees Muscle Rub and Soothe balms – we stock tins of K-Tees products to assist with hand protection and muscle soreness. Don’t forget we always have Waleeda hand cream in the box for you to use straight after training.
- Lacrosse Balls – we stock individual lacrosse balls so that members can perform self massage/ Myo-Fascial Release on points of muscle tightness. Here is a picture guide on how to get the most from yours.
- Again Faster speed ropes – all members will over time need to purchase their own rope if they are to progress to linked double unders. This rope will need to be adjusted to the height of the individual athlete. Lots of brands are available on line and everyone will have a personal favourite. We stock again faster as we believe it offers the best combination of quality, adjustability and value for money.
